Nigerian Navy Assesses Benue State Naval Base Site
Today marks a significant step forward for security measures in Benue State as members of the Nigerian Navy’s 4-Man Committee arrived in Makurdi. Their mission? To conduct an on-the-spot assessment, directed by Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, aimed at identifying a suitable site for the establishment of a Naval Base.
Advocating for Enhanced Security
This initiative stems from recent discussions initiated by Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia during his visit to the Naval Headquarters in Abuja on February 16, 2024. During this visit, Governor Alia passionately advocated for the establishment of a Type “A” Naval Base in Benue State. The aim is to address pressing security concerns arising from bandit activities and recurring farmer-herder clashes along the banks of the River Benue.
A Beacon of Hope for Peace
Governor Alia expressed confidence in the outcome of this joint assessment. He believes that the findings will pave the way for the establishment of a Naval Base that not only strengthens security measures but also serves as a beacon of hope for lasting peace and prosperity in Benue State.
Gratitude for Proactive Measures
Governor Alia extended his deepest gratitude to Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, for his prompt approval and proactive approach in constituting this crucial committee. The Governor emphasized the importance of collaboration between state and federal agencies in addressing security challenges effectively.
